Maintaining the log bucket
Log objects may accumulate in the log bucket depending on the source bucket's configuration and change rate. To manage storage and control costs, regularly delete log objects that are no longer needed. You can automate this process using Ceph's bucket lifecycle policies on the log bucket. To maintain the log bucket, you must configure at least one lifecycle policy.
The recommended policy is the S3 lifecycle policy on the log bucket, which offers the following benefits:
Automatically deletes logs older than a specified number of days.
Configurable retention period during policy creation.
Validated by NetBackup against the backup schedule.
Adjusts log pruning with full and differential backup frequency.
For details on configuring and using this lifecycle policy, refer to the IBM Storage Ceph documentation.
