NetBackup™ Status Codes Reference Guide

NetBackup status code: 8766

Message: The certificate enrollment failed. The common name (CN) is not present in the certificate.

Explanation: This error occurs in the following scenario:

  • The host is not registered with the NetBackup host database, it does not have the common name in the certificate, and the host name is not present in the subject alternative name of the certificate.

Recommended Action: Do one of the following:

  • Add the common name of the host in the certificate.

  • Add the host name in the certificate's subject alternative name.

  • Carry out the following steps in the given order:

    • Add the host in the host database using the nbhostmgmt -addhost command.

    • Add the subject alternative name of the certificate in the NetBackup database using the nbcertcmd -createECACertEntry command.
