Manual scan host configuration

The scan host must have NetBackup Malware Scanner (Avira) installed and must be reachable from media server over SSH.

Configure the required share type such as NFS or SMB.

Note:

For Linux scan host, NFS share type shows 4x better scan time than SMB share type.

Notes: Perform the following steps on MSDP storage server:

  • Configure NFS and SMB configurations. Also, NFS or SMB client must be on scan host.

  • For SMB share, ensure that storage server is connected/joined to Active Directory Domain and obtain an active directory domain details and a valid user credentials.

  • Ensure that user specified in the share type has required permission to mount.

For more information on the additional prerequisites (such as SMB/NFS client software) and scan host configuration steps, refer to NetBackup Administrator Guide.

Scenario based scan host configuration

For NFS share type, depending on the platform and malware scanner tool, refer to the following examples for configuring the scan host manually:

For Agentless host:

  • For Windows, NFS share type and Microsoft Defender Antivirus:

See Configure malware scan host for Windows NFS share type and Microsoft Defender.

  • For Linux, NFS share type:

See Configure malware scan host for Linux NFS share type and Avira.

For NetBackup client as the scan host:
