NetBackup™ Deduplication Guide

Managing the compaction service

The compaction service removes unnecessary data from the MSDP catalog. Use the following procedures to manage the compaction service.

To view the status of the compaction service

  1. Open an SSH session to the server.
  2. Run the following command:

    dedupe compaction state

To enable or disable the compaction service

  1. Open an SSH session to the server.
  2. Run one of the following commands:

    dedupe compaction enable

    dedupe compaction disable

To start the compaction service outside of the system schedule

  1. Open an SSH session to the server.
  2. Run the following command:

    dedupe compaction start
