NetBackup™ for VMware Administrator's Guide

Adding the VMware backup host to NetBackup

Use this procedure to enable a NetBackup client as the backup host.

Note:

This procedure is not needed for the media servers that operate as backup hosts with the policy Backup Media Server option. With that option, NetBackup automatically enables media servers as backup hosts.

In the NetBackup Administration Console, do the following.

To add the VMware backup host

  1. Click Host Properties > Primary Servers, double click the NetBackup primary server, and click VMware Access Hosts.
  2. Click Add.
  3. Enter the fully qualified domain name of the VMware backup host, and click Add.
  4. When you are finished adding hosts, click Close.
  5. Click Apply and then OK.
  6. If the NetBackup primary server is clustered in a failover environment: repeat this procedure to add the backup host to each primary server node in the cluster.
