About restoring multi-attach volumes

NetBackup for OpenStack supports multi-attach volumes for backup and restore. With this feature, you can share one volume with the multiple VMs. For more information about multi-attach volumes, see the OpenStack documentation.

During the backup of VMs with multi-attach volumes, each VM is backed up separately. Hence, when restore operations on VMs with multi-attach volumes is performed, the restored volume has multi-attach property set but is not shared by default.

For example, you have a multi-attach volume that is attached to four VMs protected by the same policy. You take the backup of four VMs with this policy. When you restore the snapshot, it restores four VMs with four separate volumes with the multi-attach property set.
