NetBackup™ Release Notes

Resilient backup jobs feature is now available

New to NetBackup 10.1.1 is the resilient backup jobs feature. This feature lets backup jobs continue processing on media servers and clients during and after a service disruption on the primary server.

After the service disruption is resolved, the primary server polls the media servers for resilient jobs and attempts to reestablish communication with them. If communication with the primary server isn't reestablished within the media server's resilient backup time-out setting, the backup fails.

NetBackup supports resilient backup jobs with Standard and Windows-NT policy types. The policy's associated storage unit must be configured on a NetBackup 10.1.1 or greater media server. Additionally, multistreaming, multiple copies, and multiplexing are not supported. Backup jobs with hierarchies are not supported.

See the NetBackup Administrator's Guide, Volume I for the new bp.conf resilient backup settings.
