About unsupported password characters
The CyberArk Central Policy Manager (CPM) API cannot process the following characters in a password:
< > & \ " /
A password that contains any of these characters can interrupt the CPM API process. The operation then fails and CyberArk reports a generic error, Error 9999, which does not identify the character as the cause.
This restriction applies to all of the CPM plugins that this document describes, on all of the supported appliance platforms.
Do not use these characters in any password that CyberArk manages.
Note:
The appliance password policies do not block these characters. A password that contains one is valid on the appliance and fails only when CyberArk verifies, changes, or reconciles it.
If Error 9999 persists for a password that contains none of these characters, contact CyberArk Support. Error 9999 is a generic CPM error and has other causes.
