Viewing network interface link status and speed
For every physical interface, bonded interface, and VLAN-tagged interface, the page shows and . These values reflect the current state of the interface on the node where it resides, and Flex Appliance keeps them up to date automatically, including while you are already viewing the page so you do not need to leave and return to the page, or refresh your browser, to see a change.
Table: Link status values:
Value | Description |
|---|---|
Up | The interface has an active physical link and is able to pass traffic. |
Down | The interface has no physical link (for example, the cable is unplugged or the switch port is down) or is administratively disabled. |
Updating | Flex Appliance is collecting current status for the interface. You typically see this for a few seconds after a bond is created or edited, while the aggregated link stabilizes, or immediately after the node the interface belongs to changes state. The value updates automatically once status is available. |
Not available | Status has not yet been collected for the interface - for example, immediately after a node that was offline comes back online with a newly created interface. The value populates automatically within moments. |
When is Up, shows the interface's negotiated link speed (for example, 10 Gb/s). When is Down, Updating, or Not available, is blank.
Note:
If a node goes offline while you are viewing the page, the link status and speed for the interfaces on that node update automatically to show the loss of connectivity, instead of remaining in the Updating state. When a node comes back online, its interfaces are updated automatically as soon as status is available.
