Managing personal API tokens
You can generate a personal API token for a user account and use that token for API access. The personal API token has the same access permissions as the account.
You can also restrict the token so that the appliance accepts it only from the IP addresses and subnets that you specify.

Note:
You can also generate a personal API token for a service account but must do so through the APIs.
Use the following procedures to manage personal API tokens.
To generate a personal API token
- From the Flex Appliance Console, click your user icon in the top-right corner and click Generate personal API token.
- Fill in the required fields.
The Allowed list field is optional. You can enter up to five IP addresses or subnets (separated by commas) and click Add. Leave it empty if you do not want to restrict the token to specific IP addresses.
Click Generate.
- Follow the instructions to copy the key to a safe location.
To revoke a token or delete it if it has expired
- From the Flex Appliance Console, click your user icon in the top-right corner and click Manage personal API token.
- Click Revoke or Delete.
- In the confirmation window that appears, click Revoke or Delete.
To edit an active personal API token
- From the Flex Appliance Console, click the user icon in the top-right corner and click Manage personal API token.
- Click Edit and update the entries. You can enter a new validity period, update the token description, and update the allowed list.
To add an entry, enter the IP address or subnet and click Add.
To remove an entry, click the X icon on the entry tag.
To remove the restriction entirely, remove all of the entries.
- Click Save.
The change applies to the next request that uses the token. The token is not reissued, so you do not have to distribute a new token to the systems that use it.
Note:
You can manage and edit the allowed list only for your own personal API token.
To reissue an expired personal API token
- From the Flex Appliance Console, click your user icon in the top-right corner and click Manage personal API token.
- Click Reissue.
- Fill in the required fields and click Reissue.
- Follow the instructions to copy the new token key to a safe location.
