Turning off the existing hardware
You must perform a soft shutdown of the existing compute nodes before you add and turn on any Expansion shelves. A soft shutdown informs the node operating systems to stop, closes all active processes, and stops all communications to the Primary shelf. After the operating system stops all of the processes, the appliance turns itself off.
Be sure to perform these steps in the order that they are presented.
To turn off the existing hardware
- Perform a soft shutdown of the compute nodes.
If you have two compute nodes you must shut them down separately.
SSH to the Access shell menu.
Enter Cluster.
Enter shutdown all to shut down both nodes.
- Verify that the compute nodes are completely turned off.
- Manually turn off the Primary shelf.
