Recover Salesforce Data

Backed up Salesforce data can be recovered to the original location or to an alternate location in case of data loss or damage. This topic provides an overview of the recovery procedures for Salesforce data, metadata, CRM content, and sandbox seeding.

You can recover the following.

Recover Structured Data

You can recover structured Salesforce data, including standard and custom objects, associated records, nested child records, and linked files, attachments, documents, and notes, using one of the following methods.

  • Recover the entire object. Use this option when you need to recover most or all records in an object, such as after an accidental mass deletion.
    See, Recover Salesforce Objects
  • Recover specific records within an object. Use this option when you know which records to recover and want a faster, more targeted recovery.
    See, Recover Salesforce Records

Recover Salesforce CRM Content

This recovery option recovers unstructured data such as files and documents that are not linked to structured data. It includes files and documents from public or shared libraries created using the Files tab. It also supports restoring all public or shared libraries.

Recover Custom Metadata

This recovery option recovers metadata such as profiles, roles, settings, and other configuration components associated with Salesforce data.
