Conversational Reporting with Copilot

14 October 2025

You can get instant insights from your Cohesity Data Cloud reports with Copilot. Instead of manually searching through multiple reports, you can now use natural language to ask questions. Copilot leverages Reports as its data source to answer natural language queries, enabling conversational access to your reporting data. This enhances data observability and actionability by surfacing trends and insights.

This is a Private Preview feature. Contact your Cohesity account team to enable the feature.

For more information about how to launch Copilot, see About Copilot User Interface.

Best Practices

  • Specify a time range. If your query does not specify a time range, data from the last 24 hours is retrieved by default.

  • Use clear filters such as object type, policy, or cluster to narrow down results.

  • Use terms such as top, most, or highest to identify key trends or issues.

  • Use terms like total, average, count, or sum to get summarized insights.

  • To view the full response clearly, expand the Copilot interface. This improves readability by reducing the need to scroll through the response:

Example Questions

Copilot supports a wide range of natural language queries. The following are a few queries, grouped by intent:

Category Questions

Data retrieval

  • Show all unprotected VMware objects.

  • List protection runs that failed today for policy Bronze on Cluster A.

  • Show recoveries by status for Oracle in the last 48 hours.

Highest or lowest values

  • Show the top 5 protection groups by storage consumed with resiliency this month.

  • List the systems with the most failed backups in the past 24 hours.

  • Show the policies with the highest number of warning runs this week.

Summarized metrics

  • How many recovery activities failed in the last 24 hours?

  • What is the total data written by VMware objects over the past 7 days?

  • What is the average daily change rate by object type in the last month?

Time series and trends

  • Show storage consumed with resiliency by protection groups with Policy Gold by day for the past 30 days.

  • Show protection run counts by hour for the last 12 hours.

  • Show the count of disconnected systems by day for the last 5 days.

Focused Responses

Copilot interprets your intent, identifies the most relevant report, and selects the appropriate component (summary or detailed view) to answer your query. Once Copilot finds the right report for your question, it fine-tunes the results to match what you are looking for. Copilot filters, groups, and sorts the data based on the type of information you asked for.

Copilot creates a short, easy-to-read summary. It formats dates and numbers clearly and highlights the key points enabling you to quickly understand the most important insights without going through all the data. The agent returns a preview of up to five rows, optimized for quick insights. For more detailed information, you can click View Report to navigate to the corresponding report:

Considerations

  • Filtering by System or Cluster works best when the underlying report includes a Policy filter. For example, asking “Show last 5 protection runs for Cluster A” returns accurate results by automatically selecting all policies associated with Cluster A. However, you may not see System = A explicitly selected in the filters, even though the data is scoped correctly.

  • All timestamps are in the UTC time zone.

  • Copilot displays a preview of up to 5 records. To explore the full report, click View Report.

  • The View Report link takes you to the original report that Copilot used to generate the response. If your query required additional processing or dynamic grouping, the link still leads to the base report.

  • Charts or graphs in the report may not reflect the exact groupings or filters used in your Copilot query.
